It is easy to advise people to buy small fish and buy the suggested fish that live/compatible best for the small aquariums. However, you still be careful about the details. You need filter, light, heater and pump. Sand and natural/artificial plants are as important as the prior technical stuff. You need a pump to keep water flowing continuously.
If you are planning to place it in your office/ co-working desk, the heater becomes very important since the central/AC heating system is usually off over the weekend. Though depends on the fish genre so you should ask your vet, it is advised 68 °F (ca. 20 °C) and 76 °F (ca. 24 °C) could be an ideal temperature for the tank.
